The Manufacturing Expo 2013

One of the largest exhibitions in Indonesia – The Manufacturing Expo - was held at Jakarta International Expo (JIE) from 4-7 December 2013. It drew crowds from a wide range industries in manufacturing technologies, services, machine tools, metalworking, and allied industries in Indonesia. PT. Duta Kalingga Pratama (PT. DKP) has become a key provider of AIDC solution for most of those industries.

In collaboration with Zebra Barcode Printers, PT. DKP was able to present to the public the latest technology in barcode printing. At this expo, PT DKP showed how modern inventory control systems can rely upon barcodes and radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags to provide automatic identification of inventory objects. In an academic study performed at Wal-Mart, RFID reduced out of stocks by 30 percent for products selling between 0.1 and 15 units a day. Inventory objects could include any kind of physical asset: merchandise, consumables, fixed assets, circulating tools, library books or capital equipment. To record an inventory transaction, the system uses a barcode scanner or RFID reader to automatically identify the inventory object, and then collects additional information from the operators via fixed terminals (workstations), or mobile computers. There was a simulation to show what it would be like in real life, with automatic batch scanning of products passing through the RFID Gate without having to scan each item individually. The scanning process was carried out by the use of RFID tags and an RFID-Reader.

At the end of the day, technology enthusiasts from manufacturers of spare parts and machines were excited to see the implementation of this technology and how it will benefit their businesses - in addition, they had the chance to win great prizes as well.
